The European Society of Craniofacial Surgery (ESCFS) is constituted by most of the different teams performing craniofacial surgery in Europe. Each team includes a craniofacial surgeon (plastic or maxillofacial surgeon), a neurosurgeon, a pediatric anesthesiologist, facial specialists such as orthodontist, ophtalmologist, ENT, and also geneticist and psychologist. This multidisciplinary approach is a fundamental requirement to be able to treat adequately to treat the complex craniofacial malformations, as well as trauma and tumors.
Since the creation of the International Society of Craniofacial Surgery (ISCFS), the European Society of Craniofacial Surgery (ESCFS) represents the European regional branch of ISCFS.
Fundamentally the core purpose of the ESCFS is identical to the one of the ISCFS: ie "to promote and foster the best multidisplinary surgical treatment to the facially deformed."
Fundamentally, the by-laws match the by-laws of international society of craniofacial society.
The council is constituted by a president and a secretary-general, both elected.
